Four advertisers, a few mysterious Super Bowl 50 teasers and one very Big Game…
Advertisers love to tease their audience. And in the ramp up to each Super Bowl, they’re willing to try ever more extraordinary measures to capture the attention (and dollars) of the American public. In hopes of getting a head-start on their Big Game advertising competitors, four brands have just released teasers.
The goal? To boost the views of their Super Bowl commercials and make sure that audiences are paying attention to their ads - and their message - when Super Bowl Sunday finally rolls around.
Can we get a drumroll, please…
In the name of Super Bowl 50, here are the newest Super Bowl teasers, from Hyundai, LG, Mountain Dew and SunTrust Banks:
LG Electronics Super Bowl Commercial Teaser
If you haven’t already purchased some great Super Bowl 50 gadgets, then LG has one to add to your list. Hoping to boost sales of their OLED (organic light-emitted diode technology) TV, LG released their first teaser clip last week. In it, we learned that Liam Neeson will be starring in their 60-second Super Bowl ad spot with a message telling us that the “future is here” and “it will change everything.”
Now, with the release of their second Super Bowl teaser starring Neeson, they’ve really got us on the edge of our seats! In the latest teaser, Neeson has a different message for us, saying “the Future is staring back at you.”
With Ridley Scott’s RSA Films production company as the masterminds behind the LG Super Bowl 50 ad, we are sure we’re in for quite a visual experience. LG apparently has more surprises in store for the Big Game.
While we wait for more clues, here’s a look at the second LG Super Bowl 50 teaser:
Hyundai Super Bowl Commercial Teaser
At least one of the 2016 Hyundai Super Bowl commercials will be a thriller for sure. How do we know? The company just released two teaser ads!
The first ad is called “The Chase.” (The title alone is nearly enough to give us goosebumps). The teaser shows a pursuit through dark, foggy woods. Hyundai doesn’t reveal the face of the mysterious character we hear gasping for breath, but given that the car company has 4 all-star directors behind their Super Bowl 50 ad, we know we’re in for a wild ride.
Check out the first teaser here:
Their second teaser, called “Ryanville” has an entirely different feel. We see two young woman riding around in a 2017 Elantra, waving and flirting with someone off camera. We can only assume this means Ryan Gosling will be in the Hyundai Super Bowl commercial, right? I mean, we can make that assumption fairly, can’t we?
Mountain Dew Kickstarts Super Bowl With Teaser
If you’re looking for a good laugh this year, you’re in luck. We’ve been assured that, unlike many of the depressing 2015 Super Bowl commercials , the Mountain Dew Super Bowl 50 ad will be a funny one.
The 13-second teaser clip called “Waiting,” features a baby sitting on a swing in a diaper while a football game plays in the background. As the camera scans up, we see what looks like a monkey glancing at his (or her) watch. Our only hint about what they’re Mtn Dew is trying to tell us in this obscure ad are the words on the top right of the screen: “Three awesome things combined.” Click on the link and you’ll see an image of KickStart and discover that the three awesome things are in fact dew, juice and caffeine.
Check out the Kickstart teaser here and see what you can make of it!
SunTrust Banks Super Bowl Teaser
Striving to be just as ambiguous as Mountain Dew and Hyundai, rookie Super Bowl advertisers, SunTrust Banks released a 13-second teaser for their Big Game ad. The clip tells us to hold our breaths and shows several types of people holding their breaths in various settings. How this will inspire us to take control of our finances is not entirely clear, but we’ve been promised that the SunTrust Super Bowl commercial itself will do just that.
Got any ideas?
Super Bowl 50 is America’s biggest sporting event and it’s the one day a year when advertisers have a fully-captive audience. That’s why they’re so eager to capture our attention both during the game, and in the weeks leading up to it.
Teaser ads are one of the best ways to spark fans’ interest and increase the number of people who see a given Super Bowl ad- particularly on YouTube. So as Super Bowl 2016 gets ever closer, we expect to see many more teasers pop up each day!
