Lift off, we have lift off! And we’re driving to the moon in this one…
Fasten your seatbelts, ladies and gents, we’re about to take off to the moon. Just when we thought there wasn’t any hope left to catch an outstanding Super Bowl ad among this year’s advertisers, Audi definitely proved us wrong.
Think we’re full of it? Wait til you see the extended 90-second version of their ad:
Their ad called the “The Commander,” definitely sets the standards high for visual experience and is by far, hands down, one of the best we’ve seen yet out of the 2016 Super Bowl advertisers that have already released their Game Day ads. (And it could also be because of the phenomenal soundtrack playing in the background).
The 2016 Audi Super Bowl commercial will air during the first quarter of the game at Levi’s Stadium this upcoming sunday, and is meant to put the spotlight on the brand’s R8, as it is what the automaker claims to be “the fastest and most powerful Audi ever made.” The ad sends us to the moon with a story “of a retired astronaut who rediscovers his passion for life–and powerful machines–when his son lets him drive the 2017 Audi R8 V10 Plus.”
The Audi Super Bowl 50 ad reveals the car model’s features by comparing it to what seems to be “rocket speed” in the brand’s space themed ad, and has David Bowie’s 1972 hit track “Starman” playing in the background to really set the tone.

The brand’s jaw dropping ad was created by ad agency Venables Bell & Partners, with Craig Gillespie as the director calling the shots, and it looks like the other auto companies that are in the race for some Super Bowl ad glory along definitely have a lot to live up to.
We don’t know about you, but we’ve totally put in our order for Audi’s R8 and you will definitely catch us driving it to Levi’s Stadium. Or to the moon. (Or both, for that matter).
