From the rookies to the all stars, here’s what we know so far…
Let the kickoff begin! (Er…we mean, the countdown!)
Pack your bags and start preparing for that flight out to Levi’s stadium — February 7th will mark the Golden anniversary of the greatest sporting event of all time, the Super Bowl! With just 30 days left til Super Bowl 50, there’s no better way to start the countdown than by taking a look at everything we know so far about the best part of the game - the commercials.
Some make us think #ItsThatEasy, while others have awakened something #BolderThanBold in us and showed us that it doesn’t take a genius to do our taxes. All in all, the 26 brands who have publicly announced their plans to advertise in the 2016 Super Bowl have us wondering how we’ll be able to wait another month until Game Day!
Meet the 2016 Advertisers
From high-tech to high-performance engines to the ones who’ve got us crunching and brushing
If there’s one tech company we have our eyes on, it’s Wix.com. The brand is coming back to the game for their sophomore year with an exciting visual experience that will double as a promo for the upcoming release of Kung Fu Panda 3. Collaborating with the animation studio, DreamWorks, has to be a recipe for Super Bowl success! (And their debut spot last year was unforgettable, so we know what they’re capable of!)
Another company that has set the sky as the limit is Butterfinger, who bought up a 30-second, 3rd quarter ad. We hope their Game Day clip is as bold as their announcement:
When we make an announcement, we do it #BolderThanBold https://t.co/IQSpHZ8fvN

Super Bowl pros Snickers will play off of its previous “You’re not you when you’re hungry” campaign for their ad spot this year. (If it ain’t broke, don’t fix it.) After Betty White and Danny Trejo, we’re dying to see who will go hungry this year.
Meanwhile, rainbow colored candy, Skittles, is back for a second round, but we hope they settle their air time with anything other than an arm wrestle. (We’re not including the ad here. It was too silly to encourage another viewing…)
Hall of famer, Doritos, is in it once again, but this will be the last time they make their fans create their ad in their famous Crash the Super Bowl Contest. Want to decide which ad you’ll watch on Game Day? You can still vote for one of the finalists!
In our humble opinion, this one is the best:
While we’ll be munching on Doritos as we watch their ad, we are curious to see what the all-too-healthy Avocados From Mexico has in store for their 30-seconds of airtime. The brand will be back with an ad highlighting their latest “Always There” campaign. Can they possibly top their gem from last year?
Inspired by those Avocados from south of the border, the Mexican food experts at Taco Bell, have just announced their participation with a 30-second spot all in time for the first quarter of the game.
After all this food, we’ll need to brush our teeth!
Luckily, Colgate is stepping up to the plate for a first-time Super Bowl experience. And they won’t just be reminding us to brush our pearly whites; their ad will be a public service announcement reminding us to save water by turning off the tap while we brush!
6 car companies that have joined the Super Bowl Ad race…
Returning players Acura, Mini, and Honda are all back with some air time this year against Super Bowl pros KIA, and Hyundai, who are all too familiar with the ad race. Tougher than the competition between the tortoise and the hare, we’re wondering which of these 4-wheeled beauties will make their mark on those Super Bowl audiences at home. GM’s Buick will make her debut in next month’s broadcast.
Remember the Mercedes ad from last year? It didn’t quite live up to the hype….
While we don’t have too many details about the car ads, Hyundai did reveal that they have 4 spots in the works, with 4 all star directors as the brains behind the ads.
Acura’s memorable debut appearance in 2012 featured Jerry Seinfeld, but sadly enough, the Japanese based company announced that they’ll be returning without Jerry. (Too bad, we were starting to get excited).
Looks like Super Bowl pros BMW have decided to sit on the sidelines this year with their only contribution being a 30-second ad spot that will feature the Mini. (They’ll be too busy cruising on their new Clubman wagon to make any other appearance.)
No strangers to the ad game, KIA is joining in its 7th consecutive year. Will they take us to another weekend getaway with their new Sorento model? We’ll just have to wait and see.
What do all 5 car companies have in common other than air time in the Big Game?
They’ll be taking the stage with all American-based Super Bowl third timer, WeatherTech. If you want customized floor mats for your car (regardless of what you drive), folks, then this is one company that should definitely be on your radar - and your shopping list.
Whatever you ride you choose, don’t drink and drive…
There’s nothing like starting the countdown to Super Bowl 50 with a nice buzz or a drink in hand. And with Super Bowl hall of famers, Budweiser, Bud Light, Pepsi, and Coca-Cola back in the game, it’ll be hard to choose which beverage to down first. Just make sure you have a designated driver!
If you really want to get the party pumping, start off with downing some Pepsi as they’ll again be sponsoring the halftime show. (This is year 4 of a 10-year agreement that Pepsi signed with the NFL to sponsor the Halftime Show.)
There’s not much word about Pepsi’s red-canned competitor, Coca-Cola, but we heard they’ll be joining the stage at the halftime mark. What we don’t know is who will be playing alongside Chris Martin and Coldplay on the world’s biggest stage!
If you’re wondering how you’ll stay awake for the late night game, take a cue from Super Bowl sophomores, Mountain Dew. Their ad will feature their energy drink, Kickstart. We do hope it’s even 1/2 as good as their last ad back from 2000:
Let’s be real, we know you’re going to be stocking up on the alcohol
Even if you don’t drink, there’s a good chance that some of your fellow Super Bowl fans do. If there’s one thing we have learned from watching way too many Super Bowl commercials, it’s to be #UpForWhatever. SO this year, we’re already hoarding Bud Light’s new collectible team beer cans in honor of their Big Game ad.
Their big brother, Budweiser seems to have lost the pup for their spot in the game, they’ve promised that their ad will focus more on the product itself, while still featuring the famous Clydesdales. Going for brand identity, rumor has it the 2016 Budweiser Super Bowl commercial will be more like this ad from last year:
But there’s one beer brewing rookie in town that will surely get the crowd cheering and it’s Anheuser-Busch’s wheat beer, ShockTop. They’ll be taking the stage for the first time ever in Super Bowl 50, funky hairdo and all.
All this drinking and we forgot to file those taxes…
That booze make you forgetful? Have no fear. Financial service companies like Intuit and TurboTax are returning to the Super Bowl to make your lives easier. While Intuit is saving its spot for the winner of their “Small Business Big Game” contest, TurboTax has created 7 teaser ads like this, each featuring a different to genius to help show their consumers how simple it is to file taxes.
First time advertisers, SunTrust Banks, have joined TurboTax on the ride with a 30-second spot aimed to make customers more aware of their finances. Rookie PayPal will also make an appearance with a 45-second ad slot to promote their mission.
Can you guess what’s coming from PayPal on February 7? Tune into the first quarter to find out. pic.twitter.com/RVo4EQnodq

A Big Game calls for a big OLED TV….
We all hope to make it to Levi’s stadium, but for those of you that can’t- first time advertisers, LG are putting out a 60-second ad promoting their OLED TV and the famous Scott duo are the brains behind its production.
So if you don’t win the #CrashTheSuperBowl contest and you’re not bold enough to dive Butterfinger style into the Big Game, you can always catch the game on an OLED TV. After all, that gives you the BEST view of the most important part of it all - the commercials.
