Super Bowl 50: Snickers & Skittles Make It Golden And Sweet

Nothing goes together better than the Super Bowl and junk food. In fact, almost as integral as commercials to the annual football tournament is the tradition of stuffing our faces with calorie-rich foods from kickoff to the final TD.

While we’re sure they will quickly be joined by other fructose-laden delicacies, so far Snickers and Skittles are the only two candy companies to have officially announced their participation in the Super Bowl 2016 ad game.

Both made by Mars, Inc., together the duo offer something for everyone. Whether you like chocolate sweets or fruit-flavored treats, they’ve got you covered.

Here’s a look at what we know from our friends at Snickers and Skittles

Skittles

This is the second time that Skittles is advertising during the Big Game and, to be honest, we hope that this year’s ad is a bit more straightforward than last year’s. Rather than choosing a standard route like sex, humor or a celebrity spokesman, Skittles tried to make their mark with this bizarre arm-wrestling ad:

They did run a strong social media campaign last year and several teasers, and their marketing director, Matt Montei, has promised a similarly diverse approach this year. Get ready for the hype!

Snickers

With a half dozen Super Bowl campaigns under their belt, Snickers knows how to entertain. This year’s ad will again use the famous theme, “You’re not you when you’re hungry.” The motto has been a widespread success for the candy-makers and last year they took home the Clio Award for their priceless Brady Bunch spoof featuring Danny Trejo and Steve Buscemi.

We can’t wait to see who their ad will star this year! Any guesses?
