Super Bowl 50 marked the first time that General Motors purchased Big Game ad time for their upscale brand, Buick. The company used their 30-second ad spot in the 2016 Super Bowl to promote the Cascada convertible. To help them flaunt what they’ve got and appeal to a young crowd, Buick teamed up with Giants’ wide receiver, Odell Beckham Jr and the actress and model, Emily Ratajkowski.
While it was their first official Buick Super Bowl commercial, their “Experience the New Buick” campaign has been around since 2014. The campaign was established with the hopes of feeding to the fantasies of a younger crowd. The tagline “That’s not a Buick!” is meant to highlight the surprisingly cool new look of the classic American car company.
