Last year, Toyota took the big screens in its fourth consecutive year, alongside 8 other car companies, and put the spotlight on their Camry vehicle with the tagline “one bold choice leads to another.” Their #OneBoldChoice campaign encouraged users to tweet photos of themselves with their father and the hashtag.

The company aired two 60-second commercials during the Big Game, with the first one starring snowboarder Amy Purdy driving the Camry, and Muhammad Ali providing the voice-over for the ad.

The second commercial they aired was called My Bold Dad; it emphasized fatherhood.
The 2014 Toyota Campaign
In their 2014 Super Bowl ad for the Toyota Highlander, Terry Crews starred alongside some of our favorite Muppets including Dr. Teeth, Animal, Gonzo, and Kermit the Frog. Crews, driving the Highlander, pulls over to the side of the road to help a van that is stuck. The Muppets immediately take over his car and take him on a cross-country road trip. The ad was later followed by a series of Toyota ads featuring the Muppets.
What did Toyota do in 2013?
Back in 2013, Toyota released a fabulous 35 second teaser for their Super Bowl spot. In the teaser, a genie, played by Kaley Couco from the Big Bang Theory, grants random wishes to the tunes of rapper Skee-Lo’s “I wish.”
In the real Toyota Super Bowl ad that year, we again meet Cuoco again as a genie. This time, she grants wishes to each member of a family. The only problem is, the genie interprets each wish in a creative way and as a result the wishes turn out wrong. The only wishes she manages to successfully grant, albeit in an unexpected way, are the wishes requested when the family is standing near or inside the Toyota RAV-4. The commercial ran during the first quarter of the 2013 game, as well as during the Toyota Super Bowl Today Post-Game Show.
