Root For The Rainbow: Skittles Takes Over The San Francisco Skyline With Keuchly and Ware

Skittles Super Bowl Teaser - Luke Kuechly and DeMarcus Ware

In two great Skittles Super Bowl commercial teasers, DeMarcus Ware and Luke Keuchly offer some very colorful weather forecasts…

And they include all the colors of the rainbow! If it weren’t for the Super Bowl, we’d probably think this is some line taken from Pocahontas’ “Colors of the Wind”

But in all seriousness now, Skittles just released two clips featuring Bronco’s defensive end DeMarcus Ware and Panther’s linebacker Luke Keuchly giving the weather forecast for the Big Game. Low and behold, they both predict that a colorful rainbow will appear over Levi’s Stadium during Super Bowl 50 on February 7, 2016.

Watch DeMarcus Ware try his hand at being a weatherman, below:

And here Luke Keuchly gives it a go:

DeMarcus Ware Speaks to Denver

In the first clip, Ware was given one very important task - to get on screen and deliver the forecast for the upcoming week (in the lead up to Super Bowl Sunday). The linebacker takes the screen with full confidence and goes through the day-to-day forecast, ending with a rainy, rainbow-filled Super Bowl Sunday. He tells us to “root for the rainbow” and “taste the rainbow” in order to win a pack of Skittles. Will Ware be as confident on the playing field as he was as a meteorologist? Looks like we’ll just have to wait til Sunday to see.

Keuchly Rooting for Skittles

The second clip shows a more reserved Keuchly giving it his best go as a meteorologist. This Carolina Panther’s linebacker starts the forecast with heavy rains and ends with a beautiful prediction of clear skies for the afternoon. The clip concludes by telling us to “root for the rainbow” and Keuchly assuring people that there’s a “little bit of a chance for rain.” For an NFL star, Keuchly’s on-screen performance as a meteorologist didn’t live up to our expectations. We’re hoping he’ll give a better show at the Big Game.

Skittles for the Win

The weather forecast stunts are meant to promote the 2016 Skittles Super Bowl commercial and the company’s weather-inspired giveaway. Skittles is inviting fans to claim their free bag of rainbow candy simply by following @Skittles on Twitter and tweeting “an original message that includes the hashtags #Skittles Rainbow and #Contest.” Be among the first one hundred thousand to do so and you’ll receive a coupon for one free bag of Skittles, valued at a whopping 99¢. (Well, isn’t that just enough to make us jump with joy….not)

Then again, if you are a die-hard Skittles munching fan like Marshawn Lynch, then this promotion might have managed to get you to jump high enough to reach the rainbow yourself!

Still aren’t that pumped about their giveaway? We share your pain.
