The Fast And The Furious: Buick Becomes 6th Rookie Advertiser In Super Bowl 50

The Buick 2016 Super Bowl Commercial will feature the Cascada convertible!

And it’s faster than the speed of light….(Just kidding)

But if you’re really looking for a ride to Levi’s stadium on February 7th, then you might want to get caught driving in this beauty. General Motor’s Buick has officially announced that they are joining the other 5 bad boy auto companies for some Super Bowl airtime, with a 30-second ad spot in the Big Game. The ad will be produced by agency, Leo Burnett Detroit, and will spotlight the Buick’s Cascada convertible. The commercial may also nod to Buick’s “redesigned LaCrosse” and the “Envision compact crossover,” according to Ad Age.

With its high-end steel exterior, the Cascada looks just as furious as it does fast-and it’s ready for the race to the big screen. (Okay, nothing can be as furious as the “Darth Vader” styled 1987 Buick GNX that was in the opening of 2009’s Fast & Furious-but you get the drift).

Can the Super Bowl Revive Buick Sales?

We don’t have much information about the creative aspects of the ad, but Buick has informed the public that the Game Day event is a great place for them to engage with their “global audience of millions of consumers” as they showcase their newest vehicles. The company’s ad is aimed to “raise the brand’s profile ahead of a big product-launch year” with the hopes of also increasing its sales and market share. They’ll need it, since the company suffered a 2.6% decline in sales last year.

Can They Cater to a Young Crowd?

While Buick’s aren’t generally associated with the college crowd, their ad may well try to entice a younger audience. Expect to see an ad that’s in line with Buick’s “Experience the New Buick” campaign.

The carmaker’s newer models are visually nothing like their older designs and have a lot to show for themselves. And what better place than the Super Bowl to play to the fantasies of a younger crowd? Buick’s Super Bowl 50 commercial will definitely give meaning to the phrase “out with the old and in with the new.” (Sounds like they’ve made a New Year’s Resolutions list of their own in honor of the 50th Super Bowl!)

Ready for the 6:30 p.m. ET kickoff, Buick will make an appearance alongside fellow car companies KIA, Hyundai, Honda, Acura, and BMW’s Mini. We’re definitely looking forward to joining them on the ride!

With only a month left to go, here’s everything we know so far about the 2016 Super Bowl advertisers.
