The Japanese automaker is quickly becoming a Super Bowl regular. Super Bowl LI will mark the fourth time that they are airing a Super Bowl commercial.

Honda Super Bowl Commercial 2016

Honda went big for Super Bowl 50 with a 60-second ad buy. The commercial aired during the 3rd quarter and put a spotlight on the Honda Ridgeline truck and, in particular, its truck bed audio speaker system. It starred a gaggle of sheep singing along to Queen’s “Somebody to Love.” This fun ad had us all singing along by the end. But was it enough to send customers running to buy a new Ridgeline?

While Honda played hooky on the Big Game in 2015, we saw them in Super Bowl ad spots in 2014 and 2012. Both ads starred big time celebs and a touch of humor.

Honda Super Bowl Commercial 2014

In 2014, action star Bruce Willis came out to promote Honda as a leading builder of “top safety rated cars in America.” In the sentimental #hugfest, Bruce abandoned his typical hardcore personage for a gentle, lovable family guy who encouraged everyone watching to hug their friends and family.

Honda Super Bowl Commercial 2012

Back in 2012, Honda chose Matthew Broderick (aka Ferris Beuller) to help them rev up sales for their Honda CR-V. In a spoof on the original Ferris Beuller’s Day Off, Matthew Broderick calls in sick and spends his day joyriding around town in his CR-V with a giant panda and acting like a kid again.
