Butterfinger set expectations high for their Super Bowl 50 ad campaign. Sky high.
But they made us wait until the Super Bowl itself to release their official commercial:
A Look Back at the Butterfinger 2016 Super Bowl Campaign
First, they announced their participation in the Big Game with a skydiving stunt performed by professional diver, Carson Schram.

Then, the candy company let us know that they would be using their 30-seconds of air time during the 3rd quarter to spread the message that they are #BolderThanBold. AND… to direct the ad, they hired none other Armando Bo, co-writer of the movie “Birdman.”
Next – as if all this wasn’t exciting enough – they released a hilarious 4-minute teaser starring Terrell Owens and Billy Eichner showing off some #BolderThanBold moves! (In case you forget, T.O. also starred in the fantastic Wix Super Bowl 2015 commercial!)
Finally, Butterfinger released another wacky teaser ad on January 26th. Called “Motorcross Jump,” the clip features a chain of ever bolder acts – from flying on a motorbike through a sea of piranhas to trying to take a selfie at the same time. The ad was pretty goofy, but we were promised that the Butterfinger Super Bowl ad itself will feature an even #BolderThanBold adventure! (And indeed it was…)
This is the second time that Butterfinger dished out the Big Bucks for a Super Bowl ad. (Their last gig was a 2014 spot touting Butterfinger Peanut Butter Cups.)
