SB Contests: Find Out What YOU Can Win!

Why should the players get all the prizes?

Winning the Super Bowl is a pretty big deal, we’ll give you that. But instead of being content to simply bask in their victory, the players who score a big win in the Super Bowl get to take home a gold and diamond ring and a fat check. (Last year the Seahawks were awarded $92,000.) What’s more - even the losing team gets a cash prize - just for showing up!

Luckily, some of the Super Bowl advertisers are looking out for us.To make sure we are having almost as much fun as the players and to build hype in the weeks before the game, many of the companies advertising in the Super Bowl are giving away prizes and sponsoring contests.

Here at SBC2015, we want to make sure that you don’t miss out on a chance to win, so we’re keeping our finger on the pulse and tracking all of the contests, prizes and giveaways surrounding Super Bowl XLIX!

Wix

This is Wix’s first year advertising in the Super Bowl, but the website building company is already making a splash. Their campaign features formal NFL legends Brett Favre, Emmitt Smith, Terrell Owens, Larry Allen and Franco Harris. But these greats are not playing football. Each player has opened up a new small business and, of course, a Wix website to go along with it. The new businesses each have a a Facebook page and Twitter account as well and Wix has released plenty of teasers and hysterical photos to support the campaign.

In the weeks leading up to the Super Bowl, Wix is promoting their 30-second Super Bowl commercial (and their product) with several contests. The Formal NFL players are playing along, helping to give away tons of prizes. It seems like each day, Wix is announcing a new contest or giveaway. But we’re on top of it!

Want to get in on some of the action? Here is a look at the ongoing Wix contests:

With the release of their complete Super Bowl commercial came the announcement of a very cool - and very easy - contest! You can win an iPhone 6, a GoPro camera or $100 to blow at AMazon.com in 3 very simple steps (and about 2 minutes of your time.)

1. Watch Wix’s Super Bowl commercial

2. Complete the tweet (“My winner from @Wix’ ad is obviously….. #ItsThatEasy”)

3. Do it before Feb 2 @4:00pm EST

Wix has also teamed up with Vine sensation Sione Maraschino in a $5000 dance contest! Show your spirit for the Pats or the Seahawks with a special dance, film it and then tag it with #ItsThatEasy. Get details here.

And over in Texas, Emmitt Smith is giving away t-shirts for his Double Deuce Club. Five people who tell Emmitt the best excuse to stay off the mechanical bull will win t-shirts!

Meanwhile, Brett Favre and Rex Lee have teamed up in a contest to say “charcuterie” better than Brett can. The winner gets an autographed Green Bay Packers jersey, a signed football and even some Favre & Carve t-shirts! #ItsThatEasy!

Carnival Cruise

Giving away a cruise would be cool enough, but Carnival knows that the Biggest sporting event in the year requires a much bigger prize. So they’re giving one lucky fan a cruise every year for life! All you have to do is cast your vote for which Carnival commercial you think should make it to the Super Bowl and your name will automatically be entered into the pool.

Volvo

Who would you give a Volvo to? While the Swedish automaker will not be advertising during the Super Bowl, they are taking advantage of the Big Game to create a buzz on social media in a promo called “The Greatest Interception Ever.” It’s simple. Any time you see a car advertisement during Super Bowl XLIX, tweet #VolvoContest and nomicate a friend or loved one to win a brand new Volvo XC60 luxury crossover. According to Volvo, “While other car companies are showing you what matters to them, we want to know who inspires you, who moves you, who matters most to you.”

Five lucky winners will wake up Monday morning with a brand new Volvo. Will you be one of them?

Avocados From Mexico

This first time advertiser knows that prizes are a great way to get people interested. So they’re giving away… You guessed it, avocados.

No, silly. They are not giving away avocados, or any other fruit for that matter. Realizing that avocados might not be enough to generate a serious buzz on Facebook, AFM is giving away a ticket to the Super Bowl PLUS, $2,000 for travel expenses and a $2,000 for a shopping spree! It’s not too late! Sign up here to enter the “Avofan Big Game Experience”

Skittles

In their first ever Super Bowl appearance, Skittles is running the “Make Your Super Bowl XLIX Awesome” contest through Feb 2. All you have to do is text “Skittles” to 22639 and you can win a ticket to what Skittles promises will be the “awesomest Super Bowl 50 party.” They are also giving away 25,000 other prizes, one of which is a big fat check for $10,000! Now that can buy you a whole lot of Skittles, and maybe even a trip over the rainbow.

Doritos

This is the ninth year that Doritos is running their Crash the Super Bowl contest, but we just can’t get enough of it! Consumers submit their own 30-second Doritos commercials and win a job at Universal Studios, $1 million AND the glory of seeing their ad aired during the Big Game.

What’s more, Doritos offers bonus prizes if the ad scores big in USA Today Super Bowl Ad Meter. So successful has this little experiment in fan-generated content become? Believe it or not, The Crash the Super Bowl contest is the largest online video contest in the world!

While it’s too late to submit your entry for this year, it’s never too early to start planning for Super Bowl 50!

Mercedes-Benz

Remember that fable about the tortoise and the hare? Think you know who wins the race? Think again! Mercedes is reviving the age old race in a brilliantly integrated media campaign.

While Mercedes is revealing little about the content of their Super Bowl commercial, or what a luxury car has to do with an animal roadrace, they have launched an exciting campaign on social networks.

They have Jerry Rice hosting a show on YouTube called “Showdown with Jerry Rice.” Rice has filmed several episodes where he debates various guests about who will win the famous race.

MB has also tapped ESPN hosts Mike and Mike to weigh in with their own opinions on the debate. Watch the clip and see whether Mike likes the tortoise or the hare. (Hint: The answer is “yes!”)

Want to get in on the action? Share your own thoughts (and enter for a chance to win “The Viewing Party of the Year” on Twitter using the hashtags #teamtortoise/#teamhare and #contest. You can follow along at #TheBigRace or check out who is winning so far on their website BigRace.com.

Mophie

While it’s only their first time in the Super Bowl advertising debacle, Mophie, too, has pledged to give away $1 million! Way to get our attention, Mophie! The catch is, they will only dole out the prize money if the game goes into overtime. But unlike Doritos, Mophie is spreading the love. They are giving away 10,000 $100 vouchers for their products. Now that’s a lot of juice!

Snickers

Snickers is giving away tickets to the Super Bowl (and over 100,000 other prizes.) They are picking a winner EACH DAY and all it takes is an email address and about 5 minutes of your time on Facebook. So what are you waiting for?

Budweiser

Budweiser is also giving away game tickets!

The Budweiser puppy has gone missing. Spread the word, and help find the puppy by tweeting (or posting on Vine) if you know where this little fluffy friend can be found. Don’t forget to include #BestBuds somewhere in your 140 characters. Winner gets to take their friend to Super Bowl XLIX. That’s one way to ensure you’ll be #BestBuds for life!

Pepsi

Pepsi is helping everyone get excited for the Super Bowl, but not because of football. The soda giant is again sponsoring this year’s halftime show. They ran a contest with hashtag #HypedForHalftime where fans could nominate their hometown for a special halftime concert. Those lucky folks up in Rochester NY won the grand prize this year but you may have a shot next year. Meanwhile, Pepsi is also giving away 25 field passes to Super Bowl XLIX.

What’s the bottom line?

We, the American public, can be bought! But then again, we already knew that. After all, isn’t that the whole point of this advertising fiasco? Traditional advertisers will spend the Super Bowl trying to buy our attention with humor, sex, adorable animals and sleek cars with one hope: that we will buy their products. But increasingly, brands are taking another route. Bribery! Well, not exactly, but they are hoping to impress us with some very enticing prizes…And we’re more than happy to play along!
