Because everybody likes sex
As every good advertisers knows, sex sells. While in Super Bowl’s past, they’ve used that to their advantage, last year’s ad lineup was a little, ahem, limp. The 2015 Super Bowl commercials were low on sex, yet high on depressing commercials about injured or dead little boys.
We’re hoping that things perk up a bit with Super Bowl 50, but last year’s commercials weren’t all rated G. Here and there, we were treated to some good ol’ fashioned sex-laden ads.
While we wait in baited breath for the 2016 Super Bowl commercials to start being released, here’s a recap of the top 5 sexiest Super Bowl commercials of 2015.
#5. 50 Shades of Grey
The book that sold more than 100 million copies is now a movie. And more than 100 million people saw the trailer during the Super Bowl. Props to this trailer for being sexy without being overly explicit. And for having eye-candy for everyone watching the Super Bowl, not just those who like to look at boobs! In retrospect, the trailer may have been the best part of the entire production. The movie was a flop, widely slammed by critics and viewers alike.
#4. Game of War
We already talked about how sex sells, but Game of War knows from Carl’s Jr that Kate Upton sells. The success of this commercial pretty much relied single-handedly on Kate’s breasts. Other than that, it was pretty ridiculous. This sort of sums it up:
Hi, I'm Kate Upton and I have big titties, so download Game of War

#3. Victoria’s Secret
For a second there we thought that the most famous lingerie company in America was going with a wholesome ad last year. Their teaser featured fully-clad Victoria’s Secret angels in football gear. But predictably, Vicky stuck with what works. Half naked Karlie Kloss and Adriana Lima reminding men and women everywhere that Valentine’s Day is just two weeks away.
#2. T-Mobile
T-Mobile’s ad last year was a YouTube darling and Kim didn’t even have to show off her naked butt. The commercial showed Kim taking selfie after selfie after selfie and while it definitely generated a lot of hype, not everyone was impressed. The hashtag #StopKim started trending and we saw a lot of Tweets like these:
I will never be a customer of T-Mobile thanks to that advert #stopkim

#1. Carl’s Jr
This commercial was banned for being too racy, which may have been just what Carl’s Jr. had in mind. In any event, it had the desired effect. The YouTube racked up more than 8 million views and made a star out of Charlotte McKinney. Who knows, maybe this year she’ll star in a Game of War commercial?
