Previous Mountain Dew Campaigns

It’s been 16 years since Mountain Dew has advertised in Big Game, so we hope that they come out with something brilliant in honor of the Golden anniversary Super Bowl in 2016.

In 2000, they hit the ground running with two memorable ads that aired during Super Bowl XXXIV.

The first was this little gem of nostalgia, an homage to Queen’s iconic “Bohemian Rhapsody.” Instead of Freddie, Brian, John and Roger, we get four sports jocks singing an adapted version of the Queen hit, and featuring outdoor sports imagery.

In their second spot that year, Mountain Dew decided to take a tarzan type approach for their commercial. “Bad Cheetah” featured a dude on a mountain bike chasing a cheetah across the open savannah. He finally catches up with the cheetah, and corners it. Reaching down deep into its throat, he yanks out a can of Mountain Dew, and then scolds the wild feline: “Bad Cheetah!”

While Mtn Dew didn’t show up for the game last year, they did run this three minute commercial for Kickstart in the pregame show to get us in the mood for what was a true nail-biter of a game.
