Last year, AmFam bet on the right horse! Their Super Bowl XLVIII commercial starred Seattle Seahawks QB Russell Wilson who carried his team to win the Big Game. Impressive, considering that the insurance company had signed Wilson on before they knew the Seahawks would be playing in the game. Last year’s eerily prescient commercial reminded us that, “determination will always trump disappointment.” It featured an emotional solo performance where Wilson walks alone to the center of San Diego’s Qualcomm stadium while Harry Belafonte speaks poignantly about the power of dreams. The 60 second spot, which aired in the fourth quarter, got great reviews.

American Family actually made two versions of the commercial: The “Dreams Deferred” version was set to run if the Seahawks didn’t make it to the Super Bowl. The “Dreams Realized” version is what ultimately aired.
