In the 2nd teaser of Super Bowl 50 (Wix had the first) Mini announced that their 30-second Super Bowl 50 ad will feature six celebs
If there’s one car that’s on everyone’s radar for Super Bowl 50, its the BMW Mini. So if you’re not yet driving around town in this retro-looking ride, then it might soon make its way to your Super Bowl Sunday wish list.
Mini is coming back to the Super Bowl after a five year hiatus with a 30-second commercial that will spotlight the Clubman Wagon. The 2016 Mini Super Bowl commercial, called “Defy Labels,” will feature six celebrities and will air during the third quarter of the Big Game. (Now, that’s very big news for a very small Mini…)

The stars in the Mini Super Bowl 50 commercial include famous icons like soccer champion, Abby Wambach, tennis all-star Serena Williams, rapper T-Pain, baseball great Randy Johnson (The Big Unit), skateboard icon Tony Hawk and Hollywood legend Harvey Keitel.
Take a look at this teaser:
According to Ad Age, Mini’s “Defy Labels” commercial is “intended to move the car brand beyond the labels it has often been associated with.” Mini released two teaser clips featuring Wambach and Williams to get us psyched for their Big Game ad. In the clips, both Wambach and Williams talk about the labels they’ve often encountered and encourage viewers to look beyond theirs.
Mini’s Big Message: Defy Labels
With an aim to inspire audience members to defy labels, Mini selected celebrities who have had to overcome struggles. Mini’s Head of Communications, Tom Noble, said that the celebrities chosen to star in the ad also have a tie to the Mini car itself. (They have all either “driven the car in the past, own the cars currently or have some sort of relationship” with the brand)
Here’s the clip featuring Serena Williams:
The Mini Super Bowl 50 commercial will be the second of its kind; their first Super Bowl commercial was in 2011. The “Defy Labels” ad during the Big Game will kickoff the start of a six-month long campaign. Incidentally, it is the only ad spot that has been secured by Mini’s parent company, BMW. Watch out for the ad during the third quarter of CBS’s broadcast of the game on February 7, 2016.
