The “Silicon Valley Unicorn” made a surprise appearance at the Super Bowl for a second year in-a-row with an ad that strives to helps connect alumni so they can help each other with student, and other, loans. The 30-second ad buy was a lucky strike, as the online lender had hedged their bets by purchasing an ad slot that would air only if the match went into overtime. No Super Bowl in NFL history had ever gone beyond full play – until Super Bowl LI! These ad slots were said to be bought for less that half of the estimated $5 million, according to a SoFi representative.
