As the sole beer advertiser in Super Bowl 50, brewing giant Anheuser-Busch chose to grab several ad slots in the Big Game. In addition to featuring their big name brands like Budweiser and Bud Light, A-B gave one spot this year to their wheat beer, Shock Top.
Shock Top is a craft, wheat beer and a direct competitor of Blue Moon, owned by Miller Coors. In advertising the beer on the biggest stage, A-B is hoping to snag a bigger share of the craft beer market.
Who Got the Last Word?
The beer company released a 90-second extended version of their Super Bowl ad. The ad starred comedian T.J. Miller, best known for his roll in HBO’s Silicon Valley. The commercial centered around a heated back and forth between Miller and the wheat beer’s iconic, loose-lipped, spikey-haired logo.
