Every kid’s (and adult’s) go-to video game consoles brand, Nintendo, joins the Super Bowl 2017 with a rookie advertising spot. The news comes as the Japanese-owned company pushes the launch of its Nintendo Switch console, slated to hit shelves in March.
The commercial will run for 30-seconds during the fourth quarter of the Big Game, promoting not only the console but also “The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild,” a high-fantasy, action-adventure video game.
“The most anticipated video game system and video game of the year will be seen on the biggest stage of the year,” Nicolas Chavez, VP of marketing at Nintendo of America, said in a statement.
The Big Game ad represents more than your average peek at the company’s next game console; it’s a $5 million investment toward the success of Nintendo Switch.
On February 1, Nintendo released both its Super Bowl commercial and the extended cut, just days before the NFL Super Bowl LI kickoff.
