We were overjoyed to hear that Mercedes-Benz was returning to Super Bowl LI for their fourth ever ad sponsorship of the Big Game! And, the ad is truly epic – Super Bowl worthy indeed!
On January 27, Mercedes-Benz launched its Super Bowl 2017 commercial, “Easy Driver,” online before airing its in-game spot during the fourth-quarter.
The theme? Born to be wild meets built to be wild, featuring the Mercedes-AMG GT Roadster and Peter Fonda – based on the 1969 cult film Easy Rider.
For the occasion, Mercedes-Benz snagged none other than Oscar-winning directors the Coen Brothers to direct their Super Bowl spot. Here’s what happens when mega directors join forces with a mega automaker for a mega football game.

The #EasyDriver-themed commercial sees a bunch of burly bikers enjoying a pit stop before they learn that they have been blocked in. Who in their right mind would block these guys in? They’re ready to get rough and ready with whoever the culprit is.

Celebrating 50 Years of Mercedes-AMG
This year marks the 50th anniversary of their Mercedes-AMG sports brand. If their Super Bowl XLVII commercial is anything to go by, we could expect to see celebration by way of a race of all races, with their high-performance sports cars. Here’s a reminder of their cute adaptation of The Tortoise and The Hare and their most epic races.
