LG Commercial 2016

For their first ever Super Bowl commercial, LG teamed up with RSA Films, the production company owned by super-star director Sir Ridley Scott. They also tapped Liam Neeson to star in the ad as the “Man from the Future.” Neeson was an exciting choice, given his standout performance in the 2015 Clash of Clans Super Bowl commercial.

Watch the complete ad here and see if you think it lived up to the hype:

The LG commercial starred Neeson as “Man from the Future” alongside a younger version of himself, played by his son, Micheál Neeson. The ad was a bit sci-fi, a bit thriller and it even made us think a little.

The spot was designed to promote LGs new line of TVs with OLED (“organic light-emitting diodes”) technology. It was directed by Jake Scott, son of Ridley Scott. Jake himself has directed 6 previous Super Bowl ads including last year’s fan-favorite Budweiser’s “Lost Dog.”

The elder Scott is also a Big Game vet, known for directing Apple’s epic “1984” commercial, widely considered one of the best Super Bowl commercials of all time.

Can we see some teasers?

Before releasing the complete Super Bowl ad itself, LG released a series of teasers.

Watch them here:

The second teaser ended with an ominous message from Neeson, who says, “The future is staring back at you.”
