Catch All Three? Kung Fu Panda Clan Parodies 3 Classic Ads in Wix Super Bowl 50 Spot

Wix 2016 Super Bowl commercial parody

Hello Super Bowl fans! Look at your Panda. Now look at Wix’s Super Bowl 50 commercial. Do you see that? They used the Kung Fu Panda clan to parody three classic Super Bowl ads. Why? To get Po (and us) to #StartStunning and build a Wix website.

Don’t believe us? Watch the smart, funny ad here:

What’s Happening in the Wix Super Bowl 50 ad?

Wix teamed up with DreamWorks Animations to create their 30-second Super Bowl commercial. The ad highlights Wix’s easy to use website building platform while also promoting the recent release of Kung Fu Panda 3.

The message of the ad is clear: For any business who wants to succeed, the first step is to start with a stunning website. Wix is using the hashtag #StartStunning throughout their sophomore Super Bowl campaign. (Last year was Wix’s first year advertising in the Big Game. Their debut Super Bowl ad, called #ItsThatEasy was extremely successful.)

A Complete Super Bowl Campaign

This year, the Wix Super Bowl campaign puts the spotlight on our favorite Kung Fu Panda characters as they try to help Po think of creative, out-of-the-box ways to promote his father’s restaurant, Mr. Ping’s Noodles. Being the rough and tough fighters they are, they’re willing to try any means necessary to boost business at the restaurant!

Watch all the 3 Wix Super Bowl ad teasers here.

After much contemplation, the fun-loving, fierce-fighting Kung Fu Panda characters think of putting together a BIG Game commercial to spread the word about Mr. Ping’s Noodles. As they try to think of great ideas for the ad, they imagine reenacting three of the best Super Bowl ads of all time! (And boy did it make us laugh!)

But the ad goes so quickly, that you can blink and miss these Super Bowl ad parodies. We’re happy to help! If you didn’t catch all the references, then let us break it down for you:

Since One Parody Simply Wasn’t Enough

The three Game Day commercials that Wix’s ad parodied are (let’s get a drumroll going, please): Carl’s Jr.’s “Too Hot For TV,” Budweiser’s classic “Budweiser Frogs” and Old Spice’s “The Man Your Man Could Smell Like.”

See the ads below:

  1. Carl’s Jr. Banned Super Bowl ad – Super Bowl XLIX (2015)

Because that kind of background music and all-natural glow is enough to get anyone excited enough to try a juicy, all natural burger (or noodles…) And even though this ad was too scandalous to air during the Big Game, it racked up nearly 13 million views on YouTube and garnered Carl’s Jr (and Charlotte McKinney) a whole lot of attention!

  1. Budweiser – “Budweiser Frogs” ad – Super Bowl XXIX (1995)

Switch Bud..wei..ser with Ping’s..Noo..dles and (voila!) you have yourself a very clever Budweiser parody!

  1. Old Spice – The Man Your Man Could Smell Like – Super Bowl XLIV (2010)

Look at your man. Now back at Po. Now back at Wix’s Super Bowl commercial. Who’s sexier? Po or Isaiah Mustafa? We thought so.

Mr. Shifu Says: #StartStunning

While Po and his friends are rehearsing their Super Bowl commercial, a very stern Mr. Shifu confronts them and says “commercials are great, but it all starts with a stunning website” if you want to bring more business. By the way…if you want to see the website for Mr. Ping’s Noodles, you can see it on the Wix Super Bowl hub

Omer Shai, Wix.com‘s CMO said that the 2016 Wix Super Bowl ad was designed to drive home the message that “With Wix, regardless of size or advertising budget, everyone can tell their own story.” Since he’s taking Wix to America’s biggest advertising stage, we’re sure they’ll manage to reach consumers!

If all this talk of websites makes you want to create your own, why not try to build a website
